Hi Karen, What a great question-an important one to our lifestyle-Thanks so much for asking!

OK, here is my take...Yes, I have been on cipro since my lung transplant-a few times. And I do know about the precaution. I have never had any issues with taking the cipro for 10 days to 2 weeks at a time except for an isolated incident last winter when I was put on too high of a dose. I knew within a couple days that the dose was too high as my knees felt really sore and I never have any trouble with them.
I called the doctor and they lowered the dose *It was a super high dose given by a sinus doctor over a weekend*-I should have known better.
Anyway the reason I am sharing my experience is because within a couple days i was fine again.

I think it is very smart of you to be "aware" but not "paralyzed" by "warnings, precautions, etc" does that make sense?

What I mean is by being informed and aware you can make sure you listen to your body and your body will let you know
If you start to have pain that is not normal, soreness in your joints, etc than I would say while you are taking the Cipro and maybe for 3-4 days after you cut back your workouts to half the time-however....if there is no pain i say DANCE,TRAIN away girl!! Be aware and be smart-dont over do it while your body is taking care of the infection.

IF you were lifting very heavy weights I would say for sure cut back on weights while taking this drug but it sounds like what you are doing will be ok as long as you "listen to any signs"
Also take in good quality protein so you can rebuild and drink lots and lots of water-that will help.

You have grown to really know your body and you are very pro active (so proud of you!) so trust in your knowledge and just be aware as you continue to thrive and live! While on any new medication or antibiotics with warnings like this train smart not strong-maybe adjust a little to an easier routine if you feel any difference in your body but I believe it is absolutely ok to KEEP MOVING and CELEBRATING this amazing new life and breath you now have!!

Keep me updated and I am always here.....much love Karen,
Dottie
